As much as Minnesotans complain about cold winters, we sure do love when summer gives way to cooler autumn days. We happily bust out the sweaters, cover our homes in fall decor, and pile into the car for leaf-peeping drives. But perhaps the most exciting part of the season is visiting a pumpkin patch, so we’ve compiled a list of Alfie-approved patches you can bring the whole fam to.

Axdahl’s Garden Farm and Greenhouse, Stillwater
24 miles from Minneapolis

Make memories as you pull a wagon down a woodsy trail to one of Axdahl’s pick-your-own pumpkin patches. Pup’ll go nuts when he realizes there’s acres upon acres of sniffing to do. You’ll need that wagon because Axdahl’s grows pumpkins of all colors and sizes, making it difficult to choose just a few!

Whistling Well Farm, Hastings
32 miles from Minneapolis

Whistling Well Farm is open daily, but for a rockin’ good time you should wait until the weekend. Every Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 you can frolic through the farm to the sounds of the Back Porch Band as they play songs everyone knows and loves. Plus load up on apples, pumpkins, mums, and more.

Fall Harvest Orchard, Montrose
33 miles from Minneapolis

Block off a whole day, because Fall Harvest Orchard has endless fun in store for you! Feed the animals, get lost in the corn maze, ride the cow train, jump on a giant pillow, swim in the corn pit, sink your teeth into a gooey caramel apple, and take pics of your pup-kin on the giant haystack. Oh yeah, there’s pumpkins too.

LuceLine Orchard, Watertown
34 miles from Minneapolis

Come hungry (like that’s ever a problem for pup) because LuceLine Orchard is servin’ up caramel apple brats, burgers, pork chops, sweet corn, cheese curds, and soooo many more smells to drool over. Walk it off on the mile-long nature trail before picking your perfect pumpkin and ending with a concert in the country.

Pleasant Valley Orchard, Shafer
45 miles from Minneapolis

Why walk when you can ride? Pleasant Valley Orchard offers hayrides to their pick-your-own pumpkin patch every Saturday and Sunday in October. Upon returning to the apple shed, get your paws on one of their delicious apple turnovers to enjoy while you take in the scenic country atmosphere with your furry friend.

Fairhaven Farm, South Haven
65 miles from Minneapolis

Depending on the week, you can not only pick-your-own pumpkin, but you can also pick-your-own flowers and grapes at Fairhaven Farm. On special weekends you’ll also find a pumpkin painting station and a “Find the Golden Pumpkin” game in the corn maze. With pup’s super sniffer, it shouldn’t be hard to win!

Collegeville Orchards, St. Joseph
79 miles from Minneapolis

With mini pumpkins, pie pumpkins, jack-o-lantern pumpkins, and gourds galore, you’ll find just what you’re looking for at Collegeville Orchards. There’s plenty of family fun at this scenic farm, but if pup’s itchin for more sniffin’ when you’re done, head 2 miles down to the road to the walking trails at St. John’s University.

Gilby’s Orchard, Aitkin
130 miles from Minneapolis

If you really wanna get outta town, head north to gorgeous Gilby’s Orchard. Your adventure pup’ll have a gourd time climbing on hay bales, searching for a pumpkin of their own, and breathing in that sweet, sweet country air. Put your phone away long enough to enjoy the nature, but break it out for photo ops aplenty!
